Tidal Wave Technology

Tidal Wave TechnologyTidal Wave Technology (TWT) is focused on developing a method and device to achieve a circumferential ablation of the nerves that surround the renal artery.  Current methods require ablative renal denervation devices to be placed within the renal artery and deliver energy though the full thickness of the arterial wall, damaging the artery.  Anatomic variations (multiple accessory renal arteries & proximal bifurcations) can prevent effective treatment with the current intra-renal artery devices in a large percentage of patients altogether.

TWT’s approach accomplishes renal denervation without placing any ablative elements within the renal artery, thus expanding the treatable population and preventing the possibility of damage to the renal artery intima. TWT’s unique electrode is positioned completely within the abdominal aorta protecting the renal arteries.  The electrode is specifically designed to protect the aortic intima from damage while at the same time, delivering an appropriate amount of energy to create an ablative zone shaped like a toroidal cylinder around the renal artery.
